Tsimbazaza Zoo is a zoo and botanical garden in five minutes from the lake Anosy. This is the only one zoo of its kind in Madagascar. On November 1989, the WWF celebrated its tenth year in Madagascar by opening an environmental teaching center at the zoo. Malagasy people call it “park of Tsimbazaza” instead of a zoo.

This zoo has the finest collection of ‘Madagascan wildlife’. There is also a museum housing collections of ‘tribal carvings’; with natural history museum consisting of skeleton of elephant bird adjoining skeleton of an ‘ostrich for sale’. Certain unique Madagascan species would be found at this place. The museum is currently closed for renovation.
